Dear colleagues and collaborators,

Welcome to a new year with MultiPark!

Our Management group has now resumed its activities at full pace, and we are happy to share some fresh information as follows:

(i) The dates for this year´s meetings of the MultiPark Board and Steering group have been set and posted under this link https://www.multipark.lu.se/about-multipark/management. We welcome Oxana Klementieva, Niklas Mattsson-Carlgren, and Maria Swanberg as new steering group members! We would also like to express our sincere gratitude for all the work done by Cecilia Lundberg, Oskar Hansson, and Roger Olsson, the steering group members who are now rotating out.

(ii) We have set dates and venues for the PI retreat (March 24-25, Maryhill Estate, Glumslöv) and for the MultiPark general annual retreat (September 1-2, Hotel Riviera, Båstad). We look forward to these inspiring events, which will be particularly important this year as we prepare for the national evaluation of the Strategic Research Areas led by the Swedish Research Council. Importantly, we will also be working on a new strategic plan for MultiPark.

(iii) Thanks to our Frontiers in Neuroscience Lectures https://www.multipark.lu.se/frontiers-neuroscience-seminar-series, we will be able to learn about a vast range of timely topics from international experts. Marina Romero-Ramos (Jan 23) will talk about immune mechanisms in PD; Thomas Perlmann (Feb 12) will talk about the diversity of dopamine neurons in health and disease; Donna Wilcock (March 27) will present research at the intersection between AD and vascular pathology leading to cognitive decline; Bill Seeley (Apr 24) will delve in the topic of selective cellular vulnerability to neurodegeneration.

NOTA BENE: Frontiers lectures are held at 4 PM and always followed by light refreshments - take the opportunity to meet colleagues by attending these events!

(iv) Last but not least, our new infrastructure manager Megg Garcia-Ryde is preparing a list of infrastructure lunch seminars for the Spring term. Everybody is welcome to contact Megg to share suggestions and comments: megg [dot] garcia-ryde [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se (megg[dot]garcia-ryde[at]med[dot]lu[dot]se)

Wishing us all a successful and rewarding 2025!
