Confocal microscope in A10
About
The Leica SP8 laser scanning confocal microscope system in A10 has been up and running since late 2019. The microscope is located in BMC room A1054.
Training
All users must first receive training in order to gain access to the system. This includes potential users who have previously used a similar system, such as the system in A11. Use of the system without training is prohibited and may result in loss of access.
Training takes approximately 4 hours and can be scheduled by contacting Caroline Haikal at caroline [dot] haikal [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se. Alternatively, if Caroline is unavailable, you may contact Megg Garcia at megg [dot] garcia [at] med [dot] lu [dot] se.
The cost for training is a base 1000 SEK plus the cost of 4 hours of usage. The hourly usage rate will depend on whether the user is a part of MP or external. For MP users, the total training cost is 1800 SEK. For external users, the total training cost is 3000 SEK.
Booking and logging hours
Booking the system via the Outlook calendar and logging usage in the logbook are required.
Booking is done ahead of time via an Outlook calendar specific for this system. The address for the booking calendar is MED_A10-Confocal-mp [at] resource [dot] lu [dot] se. Please note that only users who have undergone training and have been granted access are allowed to book the system.
Booking via the Outlook calendar is done by sending a meeting request from one’s own work LU Outlook calendar to MED_A10-Confocal-mp [at] resource [dot] lu [dot] se and specifying the desired available date and times. Respect booked times and do not send a request that purposefully conflicts with a previous booked time. If times conflict, the first request to be received by MED_A10-Confocal-mp [at] resource [dot] lu [dot] se will be given priority.
Once at the system, users must fill in an entry in the log sheet located near the system with the required information.
Rates
200 SEK/hour for MultiPark users
500 SEK/hour for external users
Billing and tallying of hours will occur twice yearly: once for the period January to June and the other for the period July to December.
