SUMMARY:Frontiers in Neuroscience seminar: Measuring prevention - biomarker
outcomes in clinical trials of preclinical AD
DESCRIPTION:Contact: diana.jerman@med.lu.se\n\nWelcome to a Frontiers in Ne
uroscience talk by Professor Dave Cash\, University College London\, UKLec
ture title: Measuring prevention - biomarker outcomes in clinical trials o
f preclinical ADLecture host: Niklas Mattsson-Carlgren&nbsp\;About the spe
aker:David Cash&nbsp\;is a Professor at the UCL Queen Square Institute of
Neurology and an Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Research Leaders Fellow. H
e holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering fro
m Duke University and an MS and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderb
ilt University. In addition to his academic experience\, he has also spent
time in industry. Professor Cash spent five years at IXICO Ltd\, where he
led imaging acquisition and analysis for multinational clinical trials in
Alzheimer’s disease and oncology in collaboration with pharmaceutical sp
onsors. He now serves as a consultant to Perceptive Imaging\, one of the w
orlds largest imaging contract research organisations\, which has a focus
on clinical trials in Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.&nbs
p\;His research focuses on the development and application of imaging biom
arkers to detect and track the pre-symptomatic stages of dementia\, and on
optimising the use of imaging in large-scale\, multi-site observational s
tudies and clinical trials. He plays a key role in the design\, acquisitio
 n\, and analysis of major UCL-led studies\, including Insight 46—the n
euroimaging substudy of the 1946 British Birth Cohort—and the GENetic Fr
ontotemporal Initiative (GENFI).Professor Cash also contributes to several
national and international imaging initiatives\, including the imaging co
re of the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network (DIAN)\, the MRI core of
the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI)\, the ISTAART Neu
roimaging PIA\, and the ISTAART Advisory Council. In addition to his resea
rch activities\, he leads innovative training programmes\, including Healt
h and Bioscience IDEAS\, a UK Research and Innovation–funded initiative
developing interactive\, hands-on approaches to improve researchers’ use
of medical imaging data.\n\nMore information about the event: https://www
