Modern technology is helping our researchers to get a sneak peek into the brain – and now the winning image has been chosen in MultiPark’s photo competition #Neurovision. All entries will be on display for the public at MultiPark Café’s exhibition – come and explore the secrets of the brain with us on 3 March!

MultiPark is a strategic research area at Lund University, where interdisciplinary research on neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, and ALS is carried out – from molecules to patients.

Recently, MultiPark organized two photo competitions – #Neurovision and #ScienceSnap – open to all within the research environment. An external jury including Petra Francke, Nina Ransmyr, and Maria Wendel from the university’s communications department then selected the winning entries.

In the #Neurovision competition, researchers photographed the brain or its cells. Congratulations to Alicja Krawczun-Rygmaczewska for the winning image, “The Brain in a Dish.” The jury’s motivation was:
“The motif in the image has a strong, graphic, and appealing form in which intense colours interact with a complex texture. The image has a depth that draws the viewer’s gaze into the spherical figure. The form is cohesive, yet at the same time lively and pulsating. The clear delineation against the dark background enhances the power of the motif and makes the overall impression both focused and expressive.”

The #ScienceSnap competition focused on capturing the best image from a researcher’s everyday work. Congratulations to Oksana Tymoshchuk, who won with the following jury statement:
“The image conveys the shared joy over a colleague’s successes. A fun snapshot full of energy!”

Come to MultiPark Café’s #Neurovision exhibition on 3 March to see all the images from our photo competitions! In addition, paintings created by our researchers with a focus on the brain will also be on display. And some of our researchers will give brief presentations about the research projects behind what you see.

Warmly welcome to our exhibition!
